Breath Of The Wild 2 Art

It's easy to miss, but there'southward a dissever 2d in the teaser trailer for Breath of the Wild's sequel where Link'southward mitt starts glowing blueish, seemingly overtaken by a mysterious force that has been keeping a great evil at bay. This small moment might take big implications for what's going to happen in the overall game.

Two years ago, Nintendo held a GDC panel where Breath of the Wild developers discussed how they created the game. They showed early image iterations and concept fine art that didn't make it into the actual game. At to the lowest degree, not initially. One seemingly outlandish thought, for example, was Link riding a motorbike. Months later, Jiff of the Wild DLC put that mechanic into the actual game — so we know that the development team is open to using existing ideas from the concept art.

You might observe it interesting to know, and then, that two ideas presented during the GDC talk had to practice with Link's arm.

Nintendo

It's an armless link, who patently has the capability to use that appendage as a tool. We encounter his arm become a hammer, a bow, a lasso, and a flop dispenser, among other things. While this never fabricated it into the beginning game, it seems reasonable to assume that Link's glowing arm in the sequel teaser has meaning, and that it signals a change in what Link is capable of doing. Whether or not the force overtaking Link'south arm is a good one is a bailiwick of argue amongst fans, though the whole glowing ruby-red light thing in the concept art does give it a menacing air.

Another interesting thing most the early concept art is that ane specific slice also seems to coincide with a unlike moment shown during the teaser trailer. At the stop of the announcement, we meet Hyrule castle start to lift itself from the ground:

Wouldn't you lot know it, Nintendo showed u.s. something like this two years ago:

Granted, it'due south not a castle, just still. What's curious about this slide is that information technology shows Ganondorf, who never actually appears in Breath of the Wild. There's a mummified figure in the teaser, however, that sure looks like a reddish-haired Gerudo with a jewel on his forehead. Probably Ganondorf. And we know that Calamity Ganon, who is in the game, was originally a Gerudo, (again probably Ganondorf). Between that existing lore and concept art pointing at Ganondorf in a floating piece of land, information technology seems pretty likely that we're going to run across this one-time foe over again in the Breath of the Wild sequel.

Ane of the nigh popular theories floating around right now is that Jiff of the Wild's sequel may challenge what we think we know about the evil mastermind. If we expect back on the myth presented at the start of Breath of the Wild, you might recollect it shows a hero of time that looks aught like Link. It, similar the mummy in the teaser, has flowing cherry-red hair, and a pig-like head.

The Demon Rex Ganondorf

This has got some people speculating that maybe Ganondorf was the original hero of legend in this world, which sure would exist a twist. I'm non sure I purchase it, though. At that place's pretty strong bear witness that the evil-looking mummy is Ganondorf, only when nosotros know that this villain tin accept on many forms, including projections, who can really say yet? Simply until Nintendo tells us more, the Zelda fandom will likely piece of work itself into a frenzy trying to decipher the teaser trailer. I am totally here for it.
